Dr Freda Khoo graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2005 and went on to pursue her specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, obtaining her postgraduate degree from the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, London in 2012. In addition, she also attained the Masters of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the National University of Singapore. She is a fully qualified Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with the Specialist Accreditation Board of the Ministry of Health, Singapore. She is also a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
Before setting up her own clinic, Dr Khoo’s last held position was that of Consultant in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Kandang Kerbau Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Having practised for many years in KK Hospital, Dr Khoo has gained a vast experience in managing a myriad of conditions spanning the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She has developed much expertise in managing various obstetric and gynaecological conditions, handled many deliveries in different clinical scenarios, and performed many surgeries for various gynaecological conditions, like fibroids or ovarian cysts.
Dr Khoo is accredited for Advanced Minimally Invasive Surgeries (keyhole surgeries). She is also an accredited Colposcopist with The Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology of Singapore. While working in KK Hospital, she ran the Colposcopy clinic, treating PAP smear abnormalities. Dr Khoo believes firmly in the importance of primary prevention of cervical cancer through screening and treatment of preinvasive lesions.
As a testament to her dedication and exemplary service, Dr Khoo has won multiple service awards, such as the KKH Service from the Heart Awards in 2015 and 2016, the SingHealth Excellence Awards in 2017 and 2018, as well as the Long Service Award in 2016. Her attentive demeanour and warm disposition endears her to her patients.
Dr Khoo was an examiner for the MBBS degree held by the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and was also a MRCOG Clinical Assessment Examiner held by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, London. Her academic appointments were that of Clinical Core Faculty Member for the SingHealth PGY1 Residency Program, Physician Faculty Member for the SingHealth Obstetrics and Gynaecology Residency Program, Clinical Lecturer for the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Adjunct Instructor for the Duke-NUS School of Medicine, as well as Clinical Faculty for the NTU Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.
Dr Khoo has published in both local and international peer-accredited journals, and has also presented her research papers in various conferences in Singapore and overseas.
She practices at Mount Alvernia Hospital, Thomson Medical Centre and Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital. A mother of three herself, Dr Khoo believes that every pregnancy journey is unique and treasured, and endeavours to walk with her patients through each pregnancy experience and beyond.
